Coastal Creations Landscaping value quality workmanship and creating a safe outdoor environment for our clients on the Mornington Peninsula. We completed a landscaping makeover for our lovely 80 year old's holiday home on Arthurs Seat. The property was in need of some TLC and our client also needed safe access points around her home.
The first step in the landscaping construction process was to build a structural retaining wall that ran from the driveway to the front of the home. We had lots of fun digging away at the rock in Arthurs Seat to make room for the steel uprights. We also levelled out the driveway in preparation for a surface topping in the near future. The old steps were definitely not safe and the home also needed a fresh walkway and entrance steps from the street. We constructed the new steps and laid exposed aggregate concrete to create a natural look to the path. A new hand rail was also built to provide added safety when entering the home.
Our client and her family loved the finished look and had peace of mind knowing that the landscaping around the home was built with structural integrity and quality workmanship.
A complete front and back rustic and natural landscaping transformation was created for this home in Mornington on the Morninton Peninsula, Victoria.
Our clients were excited to create a landscape design and construction that used both hard and soft landscape elements that were practical and aestically pleasing.
We got to work to build a two tier red gum retaining wall with steel uprights. The retaining wall was structually sound, providing support and foundation for the elevated front yard, whilst creating a stunning focal point that our clients would love to see everytime they arrived home.
Aggregate drains were installed behind both walls, back filled with scoria rock then topped with garden blend top soil. A mixed variety of native grasses, cordeline and flowering plants were planted for a colour impact.
A full drip irrigation system with a 13mm drip line was installed to ensure the garden would grow and flourish all year round. Installing a reliable irrigation system also provides peace of mind and the freedom to be away from home during the hot summer months. The garden was topped off with black mulch and several mount bulla mud stone rocks were scattered throughout to add character.
Six steps were constructed using merbau to provide street access to the house, enabling people to access the front gate without having to walk up the drive way. Retaining wall planter boxes were installed next to the steps, and capped with 140x45mm dressed Merbau to provide a sleek finish. The planter boxes also provided a frame for the steps, creating softness with flowering plants and texture adjacent to the exposed aggregate concrete driveway.
Mentone Concrete laid the driveway and filled the steps with exposed aggregate concrete.
A Rustic Fencing Design was constructed using Cyprus posts and Cyprus capping. A hard wood picture frame was constructed and installed to the front and the back of the fence to hold and secure the mini corrugated iron sheets. Our clients chose the iron sheets in bush smoke colour to create a natural look colour scheme.
We designed and built two custom gates using steel, then powder coated which were constructed to the fence. The double gate was cladded with hard wood and mini corrugated iron. The single gate was cladded with cyprus pickets surrounded by a picture frame design.
Out the back we levelled out the soil and laid approx 150 square metres of Sir Walter Buffalo Grass to create an instant beautiful turf for the backyard.
Our clients love their new rustic and natural landscape design. This landscaping transformation has added value to the property, curb appeal to the home and privacy to their backyard.
We recently built a new deck and created new access to the backyard for a property at Moonah Links Golf Course, in Rye. The outdoor area consisted of a sunk-in courtyard and our client wanted to be more elevated to enjoy the great views of the course. Our goal was to create a platform deck that flowed more naturally from the outdoor paved area, whilst still maintaining a slight sunk-in courtyard feel.
There was no access to the back of the property and out onto the golf course. We create a neat path and used AA Grade Recycled Sleepers to built natural looking steps to complement the property and natural surroundings.
A side deck platform was also built adjacent to the larger deck so that our client could use his BBQ in a more open space and cook out in the open nature. The side deck platform also created more space so that the BBQ and cooking area wasn't impinging on the dinning area.
Our client was delighted with the transformation and has more plans currently in place for a new pool. Stay tuned to see the finished transformation.
Here we have a project for new steps which started with our clients basic need for wheelbarrow and general access to the backyard, but finished in creating a beautiful, structurally built feature outdoor staircase for our clients to enjoy.
Not only do these new steps now provide easy and safe access to a backyard on a sloping property, they have extended the useable space that extends from an existing deck, whilst also providing multiple platforms for functional use.
The biggest challenge in this project was access to the property which required all materials to be hand carried to the back. The dimensions for the steps were 2.1 metres wide with a 190mm step height. The steps ran approximately 8 metres long.
